Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Jinka – Museum & Market Visit

• Meet your local guide at Jinka Airport or hotel
• Visit the South Omo Research Center & Museum – an excellent introduction to the region’s 16+ tribes
• Explore the Jinka local market (if it’s a market day), where Ari, Bana, and Hamar people trade goods
• Walk through Ari village and observe traditional pottery and distilling practices
• Overnight in Jinka (Hotel or eco-lodge)

Day 2: Excursion to Turmi – Visit Hamar Tribe

• Morning drive to Turmi, home of the Hamar people (approx. 2.5 hrs)
• Visit a Hamar village and learn about their customs, dress, and social structure
• Witness the bull-jumping ceremony (if scheduled)—a rite of passage for Hamar young men
• Explore the beautiful countryside and interact with locals (with your guide as translator)
• Return to Jinka for overnight

Day 3: Key Afer Market or Optional Mago National Park – Departure

• If it’s Thursday, visit the colorful Key Afer Market (multi-tribal gathering)
• Optional early drive to Mago National Park to spot wildlife and visit a Mursi village (Optional, extra cost)
• Return to Jinka, transfer to Jinka Airport for your departure flight
